Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree from a recognised university or equivalent for most posts. Some posts have additional requirements.

Most SSC CGL posts are desk jobs and do not have physical eligibility criteria. However, posts like Sub Inspector (CBI) and Inspector (CGST/IT) conducting field work may require medical fitness. The exact medical standards are communicated during document verification.
There is no restriction on the number of attempts for SSC CGL as long as the candidate meets the age and eligibility criteria. Candidates can appear as many times as they wish within the eligible age range.
